Paris (France) - The outcome of the French elections is eagerly awaited: According to the latest polls, the runoff between Emmanuel Macron (République en Marche) and his challenger Marine Le Pen (Rassemblement National) was very close.

Will France vote for the right-wing conservative, in the past openly right-wing extremist Marine le Pen?

Or will incumbent President Emmanuel Macron be the first president since Jacques Chirac to have a second term?

The result of the election is eagerly awaited, especially in the rest of Europe, in the USA, but also in Russia and China.

The election in France is seen as a choice of direction, which should also have a decisive influence on the course of the EU in global political issues.

This comes at a time when old certainties seem to have been shattered, particularly as a result of the Ukraine conflict.
