Polling stations in France opened today (Sunday) in the second round of the presidential election, in which incumbent President Emanuel Macron and far-right candidate Marin Le Pen are running.
Macron is the candidate who has a higher chance of winning, but a victory will be determined in case he records an overwhelming victory.
Both candidates have to convince almost 50% of voters that neither of them voted in the first round of elections held two weeks ago.
Polling stations will close at 7pm (French time) in most of France, and at 8pm in major cities.
An estimate of the result based on certain pre-selected polling stations will be published in 8.
This estimate is generally considered correct unless the count is too close.
The campaign officially ended on Friday.

Macron's platform includes a cap on fuel prices, updating pensions and raising the retirement age to 65.
It also supports the strengthening of the European Union.
Le Pen promised to lower the retirement age to 60 from 62 for people who started working before the 20th wave, lower the VAT on fuel from 20% to 5.5%, and enact a new law that would allow French citizens to prioritize housing, jobs and welfare, such as Deportation of immigrants is also illegal.
Macron and Le Pen were ranked first and second in the first round of elections.
Macron voted 9.8 million voters;
8.13 million voters voted for La Penn;
And far-left candidate Jacques Luke Melenchon garnered 7.7 million voters, 420,000 less than a word.
