After the chain of lights in Ebersberg, the schools in Kirchseeon, Ebersberg and Grafing are planning another action to protest for peace in Ukraine.

Grafing/Ebersberg –

Putin's war of aggression has been raging in Ukraine since February 24.

Unspeakable hardship, violence, terror and destruction are forcing many people, especially children, to flee.

“We are all shocked and stunned.

Our children and young people are not unaffected by this, because they know that it is no longer a computer game.

They feel fear and anger when faced with the images they are confronted with, but above all they feel powerless when faced with the events of the war, which they did not know before," say Stephanie Scharfenberg, teacher at the Ebersberg Realschule, and Diana Kühnlein, teacher at the primary and secondary school Ebersberg Middle School.

Together they had organized a chain of peace lights in the county seat on March 11th.

Now another action follows in the form of a peace march.

Peace march in Grafing: students want to show solidarity with war victims

Growing up in peace has lost its naturalness.

The children have the feeling that they have to be idle, say the teachers.

Various relief actions, such as fundraisers and collection days for money and certain supplies for Ukraine, have already taken place in schools and elsewhere.

The chain of peace lights, in which the schools, youth groups and kindergartens in particular took part, was a strong sign of solidarity with the people threatened by war.

Diana Kühnlein and Stephanie Scharfenberg are now calling for people to stand up for a peaceful Europe, for the universality of human rights and for human protection.

According to their own words, they want to take the young people seriously, support them in dealing with the disturbing experiences and give them another opportunity to promote their commitment against war and for peace, to accompany them and to show solidarity with those who have fled Ukraine stand.

Nor should we forget the people whose families come from Russia, who may have to fear for the lives of those who have the courage to take a stand against the war.

Everyone can participate - mayors take over patronage

On Friday, April 29th, a peace march for all victims of the war in Ukraine is to take place in downtown Grafing, in which all schools from Ebersberg, Grafing and Kirchseeon can take part.

In addition, all kindergartens and youth organizations and all adults are invited to join.

The mayors of Grafing and Ebersberg, Christian Bauer and Ulrich Proske, have jointly taken over the patronage of the solidarity event.

The "Drumlines" group will lead the procession, which will take a route from the Volksfestplatz and pick up everyone involved at different places, before bringing everyone together at the market square for a final round together.

Anyone who would like to join the peace march can do so from 6 p.m. at the Grafing festival site, from 6.10 p.m. at the Grafing S-Bahn station,
