This is what Jean-Luc Mélenchon said on the evening of the victory of Emmanuel Macron, who collected 58.5% of the votes against Marine Le Pen who, she collected 42% of the votes.

LET'S CHECK.
In reality, in strict terms of the number of votes, Emmanuel Macron is far from being the one who won the fewest.
In 2017, he obtained a total of more than 20.7 million votes.
Much less however than Jacques Chirac in 2002 who, against Jean-Marie Le Pen, collected more than 25.5 million.
And much more than the score obtained by Georges Pompidou in 1969, or 11 million votes.
