PRESIDENTIAL 2022 – With nearly 42% of the vote, Marine Le Pen believes that her result represents “a resounding victory”. It imposes itself in the Antilles, where Emmanuel Macron had largely won in 2017.

Emmanuel Macron, outgoing president can claim a clear victory (from 57.6% to 58.5% according to estimates) and a historic first under the Fifth Republic outside the period of cohabitation.

However, the president elected for a new 5-year term will have to know how to compose if he wants to preserve the unity of a country cut in two and where extremes have gained ground.

The legislative elections in June could further accentuate this divide due to the majority voting system with under-represented extremes and the LR and PS parties, still well established locally, over-represented.

The choice of his future Prime Minister will also be very important to carry out the reforms that the President intends to carry out.
