Nice: a priest and a nun attacked with a knife in the Saint-Pierre-d'Arène church

On Twitter, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin wanted to be reassuring, saying that the vital prognosis of the two victims was not engaged.


A priest and a nun were stabbed this Sunday, April 24 in the morning in Nice, according to information from

Nice Matin

confirmed to

Le Figaro

by the Nice prosecutor's office.

The facts occurred in the Saint-Pierre-d'Arène church, located rue de la Buffa, south of the city.

Around 10 a.m., an individual entered the church and immediately went towards the priest, stabbing him several times - about twenty according to a journalist from Le

Point

.

After which he attacked the nun, who was slightly injured.

Both victims were quickly attended to by firefighters.

Their days would not be in danger according to the first findings of the doctors, reported by

Nice Matin

and confirmed in the process by the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, who spoke on Twitter.

“No vital prognosis committed”

The Minister wished to congratulate the “police

Regarding the motivations of the man arrested, they remain unknown at this stage of the investigations.

The public prosecutor of Nice, Xavier Bonhomme, was expected on site at midday.
