For the first time ever, the maypole from Fürmoosen in the Ebersberg district has been stolen.

The opportunity only comes once every 30 years.

Moosen

- The small town of Fürmoosen in the municipality of Moosach only puts up a maypole every 30 years.

This makes it a coveted target for thieves - in addition to its rarity value, no one has ever managed to kidnap the Fürmooseners' tree.

That's over now, reports the Grafing boys' club.

Together with the neighbors from Ebersberg, they broke into Maibaum-Fort-Knox.

Cars and a hedge in the way: That doesn't stop the maypole thieves

At 4 o'clock in the morning the tribe fled furtively on strong boys' arms over three cars that were supposed to park them, through a hedge and past the town sign into the night (photo left).

A tree truck was waiting there for transport to Grafing, the two boys' associations report.

The fire brigade from Ebersberg also took part and secured the transport.

The two nights before, the 2nd and 3rd board members of the Grafinger boys, Anian Reitberger and Julius Zulbeck, had scouted out the tree.

The thieves from Grafing and Ebersberg help set it up - that's the custom

After an overnight stay in Grafing, negotiations with Fürmoosen's maypole representative Georg Stinauer ended successfully.

The tree came back the same day (photo on the right), for the successful thieves there was traditional snack and beer - on Sunday, May 14th, putting up with the Stoabucklmusi and beer garden is the order of the day.

Then, of course, the guys from Grafing and Ebersberg help out – that's a matter of honor when the maypole is stolen in accordance with the rules.
