17 car tires were found at the weekend in Walchensee between Urfeld and Sachsenbach.

Someone just threw them in the water.

The police and lifeguards are furious about the illegal disposal.

They hope that the perpetrators have been observed by witnesses.

Walchensee - An environmental outrage happened at the weekend at Walchensee.

Between Urfeld and Sachsenbach, one or more strangers simply threw many used car tires into the water, according to the Kochel police and the Walchensee water rescue service.

Fourteen were found on Saturday and three more in the same place on Sunday.

There may be three more somewhere in the water, because then it would be five complete sets with four car tires, including aluminum rims.

Police officers and lifeguard volunteers pulled the tires out of the lake.

"They probably thought the tires were sinking"

The police have already noticed that these are sentences.

"The perpetrator or perpetrators probably thought the tires were sinking," says Kochler police chief Steffen Wiedemann.

The report was received by the police on Saturday morning.

The tires were found about 200 meters to the right of the power plant outlet.

Witnesses wanted: Who saw a larger transport vehicle?

Because so many tires have to be transported in a larger vehicle, the police are looking for witnesses who saw one or more vehicles on Friday, Saturday night or Saturday morning.

Because the police could not salvage the tires alone, the Walchensee water rescue service was called on Saturday.

Two volunteers pitched in, angry about the mess.

The police are now investigating environmentally hazardous waste disposal and water pollution.

References to witnesses are accepted on telephone 0 80 41/76 10 62 73.
