The Turkish regime sentenced the opposition Osman Kavala to life imprisonment without the possibility of reducing the sentence, after he was convicted of trying to overthrow the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Turkish regime also sentenced seven other defendants who appeared with the 64-year-old publisher Kavala to 18 years in prison on charges of providing support to him.

Kavala has denied the charges against him and has been detained for four and a half years in Silivri prison near Istanbul on charges of supporting and financing anti-Erdogan demonstrations in 2013.

It is noteworthy that the Erdogan regime launched severe repression campaigns against its opponents and opponents inside the country, where tens of thousands of people, both civilians and military, were arrested and hundreds of thousands were dismissed from public service, especially after the failed coup attempt against it in 2016.
