Icking – So that used items can be easily reused, the Bund Naturschutz Icking is committed to a materials exchange at the recycling center.
"In the communities around it is already common practice that well-preserved, new items are not thrown away, but delivered to a so-called recycling exchange and passed on there," reports Bund Naturschutzverein chairwoman Beatrice Wagner.
Now this sensible possibility of reuse could soon also be possible in Icking.
At least the conservationists have handed over a corresponding plan to Mayor Verena Reithmann, which will be discussed in the Icking municipal council on Monday, April 25th.
“In our throwaway society, a lot of affluent waste accumulates.
In view of the scarcity of raw materials and the impending climate crisis, we were looking for a way to easily reuse used items,” explains Wagner.
“Re-use, reduce and recycle are the order of the day.
In general, we should think much more about a circular economy in which reuse is a priority.”
Decision pending
The plan behind the Ickinger recyclables exchange is as follows: In a trailer, the well-preserved items are accepted under supervision and offered to interested parties free of charge on shelves.
If after a certain time there are no interested parties for the offer, it will be disposed of.
However, large parts and electronic devices cannot be accepted. The materials exchange offers a bulletin board for this purpose, so that such devices can also be recycled.
According to the alliance's idea, the trailer should have its place at the recycling center and only be accessible during its opening hours.
But first the decision in the municipal council meeting is pending.
“We all hope for a positive vote.
After that we will start with a crowdfunding in order to be able to pay for the beautiful construction trailer with the help of many fellow campaigners and then we can start in the summer", says Wagner optimistically.
