The war in Ukraine continues.
As a pact for "solidarity and future", Tschentscher and Klitschko today agreed on a town partnership.
Hamburg – Hamburg's Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) and Kiev's Mayor Vitali Klitschko have agreed on a strategic city partnership in view of Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine.
Both cities want to support each other in times of crisis.
Both politicians signed a corresponding "Pact for Solidarity and Future" on Sunday, April 24, 2022, in Hamburg and in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.
Klitschko was live in the Hanseatic city's town hall, as reported by 24hamburg.de.

At the same time, both mayors appealed to the people, companies and institutions in their cities to support the pact.
The first priority is humanitarian aid for the time of the acute crisis and for the day when reconstruction in Ukraine can begin.
In a second phase of the pact, economic, cultural and social relations are to be strengthened.
"The pact for solidarity and future is a sign against Russia's war of aggression and for our solidarity with Ukraine," said Tschentscher.
As the capital and seat of government of Ukraine, Kyiv is of particular importance in the resistance against Russian aggression and in the fight for peace and freedom in Europe.
Thanks to the good contacts with the Klitschkos, the city can “help in a targeted manner and respond flexibly to the most urgent needs”.
In the past few weeks, donations and aid from Hamburg have fallen slightly, which is why the Hamburger Tafel urgently asked for help.
“Everything that is happening in Ukraine at the moment is a great tragedy.
Not just for our hometown and for our country.
This is a tragedy for all of Europe.
The war has no meaning,” added Klitschko in the video switch.
Vitali Klitschko: Hamburg is “second home” for the mayor of Kyiv
The brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko have had close ties to Hamburg for many years.
They started their world boxing careers from the Hanseatic city.
Vitali Klitschko has been mayor of Kyiv since 2014.
He described Hamburg as his second home on Sunday.
His wife Natalia recently campaigned for peace in and more support for Ukraine at demonstrations and events in Hamburg.
