No member of the federal cabinet has visited Ukraine since the start of the Russian attack.

After the refusal from Kyiv to Federal President Steinmeier, Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that he was not planning any trips to the war zone for the time being.

In mid-April, the Chairwoman of the Bundestag Committees for Foreign Affairs (Michael Roth, SPD), Defense (Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, FDP) and Europe (Anton Hofreiter, Greens) traveled to Lviv.

There they met members of the Ukrainian Parliament.

The committee chairmen then called on the federal government to deliver heavy weapons - this has been a contentious issue in the traffic light coalition ever since.
