PRESIDENTIAL 2022 – Proof now of her rooting in the countryside, the RN candidate wins her greatest victories among cities with less than 5,000 inhabitants.

If Emmanuel Macron, re-elected on Sunday with 58.54% of the votes in the 2022 Presidential election, was particularly acclaimed in the big cities, his rival Marine Le Pen won in more than 18,100 municipalities (compared to more than 16,900 for the outgoing president).

In medium-sized towns, the results are more mixed.

The successes of the representative of the National Rally grow in inverse proportion to the size of the commune.

Marine Le Pen thus wins 15.3% of cities between 50,000 and 100,000 inhabitants, 17.1% of those between 20,000 and 50,000 and 25.9% of those between 10,000 and 20,000.

Results: Marine Le Pen takes root in the countryside

But, now proof of her roots in the countryside, the RN candidate has won her greatest victories among cities with less than 5,000 inhabitants.

It records a score of 76.3% in Bayard-sur-Marne (1,074 registered) for example and is well ahead of Emmanuel Macron in villages with less than 1,000 inhabitants, winning 57.2% of them.

Note that Marine Le Pen got a clear round with 100% of the votes in Ornes.

In the first round, this municipality of the Meuse with 10 registered on the lists had stripped various ballots.

The results of the second round were therefore a small surprise.

The almost perfect score follows at Flammerécourt (Haute-Marne).

Marine Le Pen captured the largest number of votes there with 97.87% of the vote ahead of Emmanuel Macron (2.13%).

The abstention rate in Flammerécourt during the second round of the presidential election reached 15.79%, which remains below the national average (28.01%).

A sign of her progress, Marine Le Pen came first in the second round in Prades (Pyrénées-Orientales), the town of Prime Minister Jean Castex.

She obtained 51.33% of the vote there, when Emmanuel Macron had largely won in 2017 (60.8% against 39.2%).

Another symbol: the candidate of the nationalist right wins in Colombey-les-deux Eglises (Haute-Marne), the town where General Charles de Gaulle resided with 56.7% of the vote (603 registered).

Overseas, the Mélenchon vote in the first round turned into a Le Pen vote in the second round.

The candidate made a historic breakthrough there between the two rounds.

It won 69.6% in Guadeloupe, 60.9% in Martinique, 60.7% in Guyana, 55.4% in Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin, as well as Reunion (59.6 %), in Mayotte (59.1%) and in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon (51%).

An anti-Macron vote which Marine Le Pen probably did not expect but obtained at the cost of very strong abstention (more than 50% in Guadeloupe and Martinique, 61% in Guyana).
