Attempted homicide in the middle of Munich - young man arrested in Zurich

In mid-March 2022, there was an attempted homicide in the center of Munich.

Now the police can report a success in the investigation.

Munich – As early as mid-March, there was an attempted homicide on Munich's Sonnenstrasse.

On the afternoon of March 17, passers-by informed the police after observing a physical altercation between two people.

As a result of these reports, several Munich police patrols immediately went to the scene.

However, no person involved in the crime could be identified at the scene.

As part of the search measures, a 23-year-old German citizen residing in Berlin was found in the Kreuzstrasse area with stab wounds.

Due to his injuries, he was transported to a hospital for inpatient medical treatment by the emergency services.

According to the investigation so far, the 23-year-old got into a dispute with a 20-year-old German-Turkish citizen who lives in Munich.

Munich: Attempted homicide on Sonnenstrasse – 20-year-old arrested in Zurich

This led to a physical altercation between the two, during which a knife was used.

The 23-year-old sustained the stab wounds.

His 20-year-old opponent fled the scene.

The investigations into this matter were taken over by Commissariat 11 of the Munich Police Headquarters.

The district court in Munich issued an arrest warrant for an attempted homicide against the fugitive 20-year-old.

Based on the arrest warrant, the 20-year-old, who lives in Munich, was arrested in Zurich on April 23, 2022.

The Munich I public prosecutor's office will request extradition to the Swiss authorities.

Both the background to the dispute and the precise course of the crime are the subject of ongoing investigations.

The 23-year-old has since been released from the hospital.
