The policeman who killed Sunday evening April 24 two occupants of a car suspected of having forced a check near the Pont-Neuf in Paris, remains in custody since Monday afternoon at the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN).
The prosecution told

that this police custody had indeed been extended on Tuesday afternoon.

The investigation of the IGPN is open "

, elements of suspicion of a narcotics transaction had been noted by the police.
The 25-year-old driver, found inert at the wheel, and his front passenger, 31, discovered lying on the ground to the right of the car, died on the spot despite the care provided by the emergency services.
The two deceased men are "
unfavorably known, among other things for narcotics
", according to a source familiar with the matter.
"
A 42-year-old man, rear passenger of the vehicle, was injured without his vital prognosis having been engaged
," said the Paris prosecutor's office.
He is unknown to the police, according to a police source.

Determine self-defense
The Paris prosecutor's office has opened two investigations.
The first for “
attempted intentional homicide on a person holding public authority
” relates to the circumstances of a possible refusal to comply and was entrusted to the 1st judicial police district.
The second was opened "
on the basis of intentional violence resulting in death without the intention of giving
it" and entrusted to the IGPN, said the prosecution.

The official who fired was equipped with an HKG36, an assault rifle used by the German army and bought urgently from the police and gendarmes after the attacks of November 13, 2015 in Paris to be able to respond to Kalashnikov fire.
The HKG36 was already used before by elite units (Raid, GIGN).
The policeman is a member of a night support group within the City Security Company (CSC).
This unit is responsible for the protection of the Cité barracks, housing the headquarters of the police prefecture, as well as other sites depending on the prefecture.
