Hamburg's red-green Senate will not extend the so-called hotspot rule and the associated corona measures.
From the Senate's point of view, there is no longer any reason to extend the special situation under the Infection Protection Act," said Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) on Tuesday.
As a result, both the mask requirement indoors and in retail and the 2G-plus access rule at dance events will no longer apply on May 1st.
Hamburg – According to Tschentscher, this leaves only an FFP2 mask requirement in local public transport and for vulnerable groups.
Tschentscher justified the step with the good development and the decline in corona patients in the clinics.
Masks are also compulsory in schools, and the number of compulsory corona tests is reduced from three to two a week, said Tschentscher.

Masks no longer compulsory in schools since Monday
In addition to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Hamburg was the only federal state that made use of the hotspot rule in the Infection Protection Act via a citizenship resolution.
In the other federal states, the mask requirement - with the exception of buses and trains and in facilities requiring special protection - was already abolished on April 1st.
