DPRK President Kim Jong Un has stressed the need to develop the country's nuclear force in order to enhance its combat capabilities and address any possible situation and challenge.
The Korean Central News Agency quoted Kim as saying yesterday evening during a military parade marking the 90th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK's People's Revolutionary Army, "The primary task of our nuclear forces is to prevent war...but it cannot be limited to this task only if the country's basic interests are infringed or To commit to that mission if a situation arises that we do not want to happen on this earth... and the nuclear forces will have to move forward with their other mission if other countries try to infringe on the core interests of the DPRK.”
"We must strengthen our nuclear forces in terms of quantity and quality so that we can prove our nuclear combat capabilities by various means according to the objective and mission of each operation in any war," Kim said, stressing that any forces attempting a military confrontation with the DPRK will be annihilated.
The DPRK president noted that the development trend of the world's military forces, as well as the rapid changes in the forms of warfare, require the modernization of the army more quickly.
