Six decades after the start of her modeling career, Lauren Hutton graces the cover of the famous American magazine and unveils her minimalist beauty routine.

"I'm happy to still be a model and to still be an athlete," Lauren Sutton says in

Harper's Bazaar magazine

for the month of May 2022, of which she is on the cover.

Wavy golden blond hair, sparkling eyes, a wide smile revealing her happy teeth... The septuagenarian shines and proves that she has lost none of her panache, nearly six decades after her rise in modeling.

"I'm not going to try to look younger"

The one who was named Calvin Klein muse at 73 does not intend to let age be a hindrance to her career.

In the article dedicated to her, Lauren Hutton reveals in particular that she took precautions at the dawn of her thirties to fight against an industry favoring “youthfulness”: “In 1973, I read something about Catfish Hunter.

He was a baseball player who refused to play without a contract.

He said he was working in a youth-oriented company - and at that time the modeling world was no different,” she says.

"I was about to turn 30 and I knew I was about to 'expire'.

I wanted to protect myself with a contract that would guarantee me to continue working for years to come.

Lauren Hutton claims to thus obtain "the biggest contract in the history of modeling" at the time with the Revlon brand, before embarking on the stride in the cinema.

“It was around this time that I decided to become an actress, but in my mid-40s I decided to get back into modeling because I was doing one bad movie after another.

I couldn't bear to look at them.

So I started touring with Steven Meisel and I said to him, "I'm not going to try to look younger", and he said, "That's what I love. That's why I work with you," she says.

The one who says she was physically transformed into an “athlete” in her debut admits to being less comfortable today with her image: “It's embarrassing to pose in front of a camera.

We feel strange.

You become embarrassed,” continues Lauren Hutton, “modeling is like playing the violin: you have to practice every day.

Now, when I look at the camera, I've learned to imagine my lover's face, my godchildren's face, my friends' faces - whoever I need at this moment."

A natural way to preserve its beauty, rather than going through the knife box?

“When it comes to [aesthetic medicine, editor’s note] procedures, you are walking on eggshells.

There are people I have trouble looking at today.

Their faces don't look like the people I once knew."

A minimalist beauty routine

Even on the side of her beauty routine, naturalness takes precedence.

“I don't spend a lot of time on skincare.

Generally, I'm in a hurry to go to bed and make love or read, ”she reveals with ease.

“My only beauty ritual is to wash my face with soap and water.

It's horrible."

Lauren Hutton, however, admits to applying a retinol-based face oil to her skin.

Her other 100% natural beauty tips?

“I own an aloe vera plant.

I open its leaves and put it all over my face and décolleté,” she explains, “I also put castor oil in my hair.

(...) I apply it with my fingers and I rub it all over my scalp.

It makes my hair a little less dry and ugly."
