The Strauss Salmonella:

Two half-billion shekel class action lawsuits were filed today (Tuesday) against the company a day after Strauss announced the recall following the suspicion of the presence of salmonella in the raw materials of chocolate products and the public noise that accompanied it.

Adv. Dr. Itamar Miron, Adv. Elchanan Miron and Adv. Ohad Tellerz filed a request for one class action in the amount of NIS 458 million.

In the detailed application, the plaintiffs relied on the company making a recall, a return to its products, since February.

According to prosecutors, Strauss failed to protect public health.

Another argument that has been raised is misleading the public about the quality of its product and its sale despite initial knowledge about the suspicion of the presence of the salmonella bacterium.

It was also alleged that the company did not comply with a series of state orders in the field of public protection, a failure that led to mental damages like anxiety, negative emotions, damage to the plaintiffs' autonomy as well as pecuniary damages due to the products purchased.

In order to estimate the damage, the plaintiffs provided information on the company's profits from milk chocolate, which are estimated at NIS 25 million in two months, only from sales of the chocolate bars, regardless of the other products in question.

The plaintiffs calculated the distribution of profits at the price of a chocolate bar.

According to the lawsuit, each defendant suffered total damages of NIS 530 - NIS 30 is the damage from the purchase of the chocolate packages per capita and the NIS 500 is the result of an estimate of the other non-pecuniary damages and damage to their autonomy due to what the plaintiffs present as concealment of the company. To the bacterium - and reach 833,000 consumers who may be harmed by the clauses presented against the company.

And so is the class action lawsuit in the amount of NIS 458 million.

NIS 48 million in a class action lawsuit against Strauss: damage to hundreds of thousands of consumers

Another request for a class action lawsuit was filed by attorney Yochai Geva, where Strauss is being sued for NIS 48 million.

Please claim that Strauss knew about the malfunction at the plant as early as April 20 and knew that there was a salmonella bacterium from April 23 and did not report until yesterday.

The plaintiff claimed that the publication of the report on the salmonella was also done poorly.

According to the plaintiffs, since the products had not yet been collected and some were still sold despite the announcement, hundreds of thousands of consumers were harmed, with the emphasis on small children who are the main consumers of the chocolate products.

Here, the lawyer estimates the damage from all of Strauss' failures for children in Israel at NIS 48 million, subject to further investigation of the damage in court.

Strauss' response will be provided when received
