Throwing stones and attacking Jewish worshipers: the tension in the Old City during the Sabbath Israel today

The Israel Police announced today (Tuesday) that it has completed the investigation of suspects in the assault, stone-throwing and launching of fireworks at passers-by and police forces in the alleys of the Old City at the beginning of the Passover holiday.

Police estimate that an indictment will be filed in court against those involved over the next few days. 

Last Sunday, as part of an operation by observers of the David Merhav - Mabat 2000 control center, police noticed worshipers walking in the alleys of the Old City of Jerusalem when they were attacked by suspects who fled the scene, border forces chased them and arrested two suspects outside the Old City: Anata resident and a minor resident of a-Tour, the two were taken for questioning at the police station for offenses of racially motivated assault.

Earlier this week, after the investigation was completed, a prosecutor's statement was filed on behalf of the State Attorney's Office against the two suspects in the attack on the worshipers.

That morning, during an operation by David Merhav detectives and Border Police fighters in the Jerusalem district, seven suspects were arrested for throwing stones and firing fireworks from rooftops at police forces and civilians passing through the alleys of the Old City. Required in their case.

 In the coming days, additional prosecutor statements will be filed, against the stone throwers from the rooftops of the Old City, and later indictments against those involved.
