The Russian Foreign Ministry said it had summoned the Swedish ambassador to "
strongly protest
" against the expulsion of Russian diplomats in early April and against Stockholm's military support for the Ukrainian government.

In response, the Russian side has decided to declare personae non gratae three diplomats from the Swedish Embassy in Russia
,” added Russian diplomacy.
The offensive that Russia has been leading in Ukraine since February 24 has sparked a wave of international condemnation and a shower of sanctions which has been accompanied by the expulsion of hundreds of Russian diplomats by Western countries.
In this context of tensions, Sweden is considering, like Finland, a candidacy to join NATO.
