BMW has to temporarily stop production in Regensburg.

Important parts are missing due to the Ukraine war.

Regensburg - The Ukraine war is also leaving its mark on German companies.

The situation in the automotive industry in particular continues to deteriorate, as Ukraine was an important supplier of various components such as cable harnesses.

Now the Munich carmaker BMW has to draw conclusions and stop production.

BMW: 9000 employees affected by the production stop

Due to missing parts, the car manufacturer stops production at the Regensburg plant for at least a week.

A spokesman said that work in the press shop, paint shop, body shop and assembly has been idle since Monday.

A third of the 9,000 employees in Regensburg are affected.

The cause is delivery problems with semiconductors and components from the Ukraine.

Normally, around 1,000 X1, X2 and 1-series cars roll off the assembly line in Regensburg every day.

According to the information, it is still unclear how things will continue in the coming week.

Volkswagen also had to temporarily stop production at one plant in April.

The reason for this, in addition to the ongoing lack of chips on the world market, was the war in Ukraine, as company spokeswoman Lucia Kovarovic Makayova announced on request.

"Due to missing components, vehicle production will be suspended in all segments from April 4th to April 8th," she explained.
