"Mom, they set me on fire": a 6-year-old boy suffers third-degree burns because of another minor

The victim's family says he was playing in the backyard of his Connecticut home when another boy covered a tennis ball in gasoline, set it on fire and threw it in his face.


A 6-year-old Connecticut boy suffered second- and third-degree burns to his face and legs after another boy set him on fire, according to the victim's family.

The Bidgeport boy, Dominik Krankall, remains in bandages, the boy's sister, Kayla Deegan, told NBC New York.

The boy was playing in his backyard with other neighbors on Sunday afternoon when the incident occurred.

“As soon as he went downstairs, the stalker called his name and pulled him into the corner, and within seconds he was back in the corner yelling, saying 'mom, they set me on fire,'” Deegan said.

According to his account, an 8-year-old neighbor got into a shed and called Krankall: he had gasoline and lighters.

"He poured gasoline on a tennis ball, grabbed a lighter, lit it up and threw it in my brother's face,

and then walked away from him and watched it burn," Deegan said.

The victim was taken to the Burn Unit at Bridgeport Hospital.

Police said Tuesday they are investigating preliminary reports of four children seen playing with gasoline and setting objects on fire.

The boy is expected to recover

, according to hospital officials.

According to his relatives, it is not the first time that Kramkall ends up in the hospital because of the bullying child.

“Two months ago, under the supervision of the stalker's mother, the stalker was pushed against the wall and fell to the ground.

And again, the mother refuses to admit that her son did it,” Deegan said.

Police, firefighters and state fire investigation teams are investigating the cause of the boy's injuries as well as the incident.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no charges had been filed.

“It's heartbreaking, it's sick to meet the family.

Nothing is being done about it," Deegan said.

The family wants to raise money to help pay for hospital expenses and to be able to move and find a safer place to live.
