Six survivors, who are a symbol of the thousands whose childhood was between loss and hope, who were children when the war broke out, culminated in a beacon of remembrance.

The Holocaust Remembrance and Heroism Memorial Assembly, the International Institute for Holocaust Studies at Kibbutz Tel Yitzhak, this year focused on children and youth under the title "Childhood between Loss and Hope" - children and youth who experienced the Holocaust in all its cruelty and their childhood was robbed of them.

Six survivors, who are a symbol of thousands whose childhood was between loss and hope, who were children when the war broke out and thanks to the resourcefulness and courage of their parents found refuge with foster families and experienced the horror of war with a borrowed identity, culminating in a beacon ceremony: Alex Buber, Nili Goren, Brigadier General (Res.) Ephraim Hiram (Pihotka) and Hava Nissimov.

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz spoke at the rally: "In Holocaust Remembrance Day speeches, we sometimes mention the security threats to Israel - especially Iran, which seeks to acquire nuclear weapons and become an existential threat to us. Indeed, the State of Israel must have military power and moral power.

Rally of the Beacon Institute,

"Power and morality, stem from our ability to live as one strong and cohesive society and not as a people scattered in the open, divided and separated. It is our resilience as a society that enables and justifies our existence. We, the descendants of the children who came here "Israeli society is strong - before any ideological debate. This is a first-rate national and existential need, no less than a readiness to attack Iran's nuclear facilities."

The commander of the Air Force, Major General Tomer Bar: "I bow my head in memory of the six million, including one and a half million children who did not get to see the resurrection of the Jewish people from the Holocaust.

We, the IDF soldiers and its commanders, will continue to provide protection and hope to the children of Israel, together we will ensure the existence and prosperity of the State of Israel forever. "

Aya Ben Naftali, CEO of Masuah, said: “We are at a historic junction of parting from the last generation of survivors, most of them children who were rescued under a borrowed identity and in hiding places.

"Their struggle for survival, as well as the attempt to collect the fragments of their lives the day after their release, testify to the mental strength they endured on probation and the human ability to cope with the most terrible loss of all."
