It could have been the big leap.

But the CSU is sticking to its 10H rule for wind power.

The faction was only able to reach a compromise.

Munich – They sat down for several hours on Wednesday afternoon into the evening.

CSU parliamentary group leader Thomas Kreuzer commented on the discussion at a press conference that "the 10H rule was dealt with intensively".

Only to announce a short time later that, in principle, the controversial rule is being adhered to.

The CSU and its party leader Söder, who was also present, are happy to pass on the responsibility for the expansion of renewable energies.

10H rule in Bavaria: CSU relies on priority areas when expanding wind power

According to dpa information, Markus Söder said in advance that something had to be done in terms of the 10H distance rule.

And Bavaria's Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) was also optimistic.

He was invited as a guest speaker and was certain that a compromise would be reached that the federal government would also accept.

In the end it stayed at 10H and some relief.

Nevertheless, Söder summarized the decision as “our answer to the Ukraine crisis, the environment and Bavaria as a business location”.

So far, it has been and will continue to be the case that a wind turbine must be ten times as far away from residential buildings as it is tall.

The new exception provides that in so-called priority areas, which each region in Bavaria must identify individually, the distance drops to 1000 meters.

Such areas can be located near major roads such as freeways or four-lane federal highways, railway lines, near forests, but also built as "industrial ancillary facilities".

This means that companies can set up wind turbines themselves to cover their electricity needs.

10H rule in Bavaria: Söder is demanding that the federal government extend the lifetime of the nuclear power plants

Söder summarized that up to 800 wind turbines could be built in this way in the next few years.

His faction leader put it into perspective again.

Just getting the law on the road does not mean that they will also be built.

Investors are needed for that.

In addition, both politicians agreed that the federal government would have to move when it came to extending the lifetime of nuclear power plants.

Otherwise, 10,000 households in Bavaria would be without electricity next winter, according to Söder.

In the case of renewable energies, however, they want to "do everything that is possible," said the CSU leader.

In addition to wind, they want to continue to focus on the expansion of hydropower.

However, the Environment Minister Thorsten Faithr (free voters) must first check this.

Solar energy is also to be further expanded.

Söder also has particularly high hopes for hydrogen as the energy source of the future.

He also took the federal government to task again.

There, the procedures for the construction of power plants for renewable energies must be simplified.

10H rule in Bavaria: Opposition criticizes the compromise of the CSU parliamentary group

In his opinion, wind power has the greatest potential of all renewable forms of energy in Bavaria.

If it were up to the Green politician, 170 wind turbines should be built every year for ten years.

This can also be achieved together with the citizen.

If the electricity remained affordable as a result, the approval would certainly be given, says Hartmann.
