The Abitur exams in Bavaria have started, and there are no longer any corona protection measures this year.
However, the philologists' association calls for masks to be worn.
Munich – For almost 35,000 students in Bavaria, the Abitur exams began on Wednesday (April 27).
"Our students have done a lot in the past two years and have been preparing for the Abitur exams with a lot of diligence in the last few weeks," said Minister of Education Michael Piazolo (Free Voters).
Abitur exams started in Bavaria - no more corona protection measures
The exams start with the subject German, according to the Ministry of Education.
This is followed by the written tests in a freely selectable third subject and in mathematics.
Finally, there are two oral exams.
The students will then receive their Abitur certificate on June 24th.
As the ministry explained, there were no longer any corona protection measures for this year's Abitur.
However, the Bavarian Philologists' Association called for people to wear a mask voluntarily.
Absences from illness due to severe infections should be prevented as far as possible in the coming weeks, emphasized the chairman of the Association of High School Teachers, Michael Schwägerl.

However, some things are different than before Corona: There is still a time allowance of 30 minutes for the written exams.
Topics not relevant to the exam were also announced in advance.
Nevertheless, a fair Abitur cannot be guaranteed due to the very different requirements of the students, commented the President of the Bavarian Teachers' Association, Simone Fleischmann.
