Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani stressed that Iran will respond quickly and firmly to any step aimed at harming its security or the security of the region.

Shamkhani said during his meeting in Tehran today, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi: "The Islamic Republic of Iran considers political stability and permanent security in Iraq a national and regional necessity, and it is ready, as in the past, to employ all its energies to achieve the demands and will of the Iraqi people."

In addition, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian affirmed, during his meeting with Al-Halbousi, Iran's support for the stability of Iraq.

Abdullahian said: "Iran supports the political process in Iraq and considers that there must be a strong Iraq that guarantees peace and security in the region."

The Iranian foreign minister indicated that the Zionist entity constitutes a threat to security in the region, considering that the revival of the International Quds Day is a step towards confronting the plots of this entity.

For his part, Al-Halbousi stressed the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries, expressing his thanks to the Islamic Republic of Iran for its support for Iraq in the face of terrorism, and stressing his country's support for Tehran in facing the unjust embargo imposed on it.
