Dozens of gadgets and other products go into exemption and will not require the approval of the Ministry of Communications • Minister Handel: "One more step to create competition and growth in the economy"

Dozens of gadgets and technological products imported from abroad are exempt, and the approval of the Ministry of Communications will not be required, Communications Minister Yoaz Handel announced today (Wednesday).

Minister Handel signed a new amendment that is a further significant relief to the process of commercial and private import of gadgets and technological products from abroad. The first pulse was in 2020, now more popular products that consumers buy online have entered the list.

Among the wireless products that will be included without approval: car cameras, Go Pro cameras, computer cameras, except security cameras and baby monitors, smart switches (for solar water heaters, smart lighting, electric gates), cars on remote control, smart scales and more.

The products that will be exempted were selected after examining the line of requested products that were imported to Israel in the past year through a frequency test and the potential for damage in respect of those products.

It has been proven that these products do not cause significant disturbances and the extent of the damage that can be caused by not testing them - is small.

The Ministry of Communications will continue to examine additional products in order to expand the exemptions in the future.

Most consumers are unfamiliar with the regulation of the Ministry of Communications according to which when ordering certain products like skimmers, Wifi cameras and cars on remote control, it is necessary to request approval from the Ministry of Communications before.

Therefore, they encountered situations where consumers ordered such products and received a customs notification stating that they needed to release the product.

The approval of the Ministry of Communications is necessary because of the frequencies of these products, which can interfere with Ben Gurion Airport, the defense system and even disrupt the parking gates in the neighborhood.

Handel's move means consumers will be able to order products conveniently and quickly without approvals and at prices that can be tens of percent less expensive similar to buying clothes.

In order to lower prices in the country and expand competition.

In addition, the Ministry of Communications intends to significantly facilitate commercial imports that are expected to expand competition in the gadgets and technology products market.

This is an extension of the ease of importing a variety of additional products: routers, network cards, wireless chargers, industrial detectors and more.

The implication of relieving importers is that the variety is expected to grow, which will result in greater competition in the industry.

Minister of Communications Yoaz Handel said: "We continue to fight the cost of living and today we are taking a number of steps that expand competition in the gadgets and technology products market. When I took office, I decided to reduce regulation as a permanent policy. "From today, Israelis will be able to significantly facilitate the personal and commercial import process of wireless products."
