Legislative 2022: Chevènement launches a new pro-Macron party, "Republican Refoundation"

2022-04-27T13:47:14.393Z

The former minister wants to "unite the Republicans of both shores" around Emmanuel Macron and present candidates for the June legislative elections.

No longer say "presidential majority", known as "macronist mosaic".

A new pro-Macron party - the ninth - was born on Wednesday: "Republican Refoundation".

With this formation, the former minister Jean-Pierre Chevènement, its honorary president, intends to extend his old dream:

"to unite the republicans of the two shores"

around the president re-elected on Sunday against Marine Le Pen.

"My support is not a blank check",

With several stated priorities: the

“Small dozen” legislative candidates

Two months after announcing his support for the Head of State, Jean-Pierre Chevènement wants to involve his friends in the campaign for the legislative elections of June 12 and 19.

A

"small dozen"

of party members will be candidates, announced the president of "Republican Refoundation", the former socialist deputy Jean-Yves Autexier.

Contacts have been made with the President of the National Assembly, Richard Ferrand, while the first nominations of Macronist candidates should be announced next week.

The members of "Refondation republicaine" also hope to attract elected officials who break with the Socialist Party (PS).

In particular those who condemn the negotiations undertaken with the rebels in view of the legislative elections of June 12 and 19.

But Jean-Pierre Chevènement insists: rather than a

"vacuum cleaner"

of socialists, the former minister sees himself as an

"inspiration"

.
