The town center around the Kirchenwirt in Steinebach should shine in new splendor.

In the meeting on Monday, Wörthsee's municipal councils determined further steps for the implementation.

Steinebach

- A return of the maypole to its historical location at the Kirchenwirt, fruit trees at the current Maibaumplatz, a narrowing of the road coming from the cemetery and special pavement: Christian Wagner from the zwopk office had already presented the results of a detailed study in a special session in 2021 (we reported).

On Monday, the councils decided on the modified version.

Now an executive office is to be advertised that will tackle the implementation.

Even if the citizen surveys on the subject could not be as detailed as desired due to the pandemic, there are still numerous suggestions from the population for the design of the town center at the Kirchenwirt, which should be implemented.

This includes the desire to make the “perceived” town center the visual center of Steinebach.

And to defuse the traffic that is getting on everyone's nerves.

The following changes are pending:

traffic calming

The decision has been made to narrow the roadway on Etterschlager Straße like an island at the height of the cemetery of St. Martin's Church.

"This is also a wish of the state building authority in Weilheim," explained Wörthsee's head of the building authority, Uwe Kreisselmeier, in an interview with Starnberger Merkur.

The traffic should no longer shoot up from the direction of Auing to the town center, but should be slowed down.

Oncoming traffic from buses is still possible, the lane is six meters wide.

A 1.50 meter wide sidewalk is provided for pedestrians.

It should also remain at Tempo 30 in the area.

The crossroad

Special paving on the street, sidewalks and forecourts in the area where the inn, church, Maibaumplatz and commercial building crosses are intended to enhance the area, and trees will also be planted.

Roofed bus shelters are also planned on the main street.

The crossing area should have the same level.

The Maypole Square

The maypole is to be returned to its historical location - it is opposite the Kirchenwirt on the side where the commercial building with the pharmacy is located.

However, the administration still has to speak to the owner of the areas in this regard.

The advantages of the location are: the structure of the area is already like a square, it has a direct connection to the town center and it is easier to erect the maypole.

According to the planners, the height difference can be structured by terracing with bands of seats.

The Cemetery Wall

The cemetery wall determines the view of the town center.

Planner Christian Wagner had already addressed the ailing appearance at the special meeting in 2021, the old retaining wall in front of the church is cracked and in need of renovation.

A light-colored plaster finish is said to give the building "a solid base," along with elegant steel and cast-iron railings.

Everyone agrees with that.

Square in front of Mesnerhaus

On the square in front of the Mesnerhaus, trees should be planted to strengthen the village character and also protect against the heat in summer.

Benches are also conceivable.

What happens to the war memorial, the community would like to discuss with the reservists' association, that's open.

The planners consider it possible to move it to the middle, where the maypole is still standing, or to the northern edge of the square.

Village square/church innkeeper

The village square should have a very unique atmosphere.

The chestnut trees along Weßlinger Straße should be preserved as far as possible, and benches should improve the quality of stay.

The councils generally agreed with the statements.

Mayor Christel Muggenthal emphasized that the war memorial must still be discussed with the reservists.

Apart from this point, the majority of the panel decided to follow Wagner's suggestions.

The administration is commissioned to advertise a specialist office.
