King Willem-Alexander not only celebrated his 55th birthday with his family, but was also cheered on by numerous Dutch people in Maastricht at the traditional "Koningsdag".
Maastricht – After two years in which the so-called “Koningsdag” (English: King’s Day) could only take place in a slimmed-down form due to the corona pandemic, Willem-Alexander was finally able to let it rip again on his 55th birthday.
Willem-Alexander and Máxima: Exuberant atmosphere at King's Day in Maastricht
While King Willem-Alexander celebrated his birthday two years ago only with the closest family at Huis ten Bosch Castle in The Hague, there were at least a few smaller program items in Eindhoven in 2021.
However, that event was still a long way from the exuberant jubilation and hustle and bustle that is otherwise known from King's Day.
This year, thanks to various relaxations of the corona virus, things looked very different again and the regent's birthday party continued the old days.

Together with his wife Máxima (50) and their three daughters Amalia (18), Alexia (16) and Ariane (15), the celebrant left for Maastricht on the morning of his special day, where the family was eagerly awaited.
Of course, Máxima and her girls were particularly well dressed – as one is used to from the royal ladies.
They almost stole the show from the birthday child with their gorgeous looks in pink, white, green and blue.

Willem-Alexander and Máxima: Finally party mood again
The birthday tour started at the Sint Servaasbrug and then crossed the city.
Maastricht presented historical highlights from its history at several stations.
Of course, Willem-Alexander, Máxima, Amalia, Alexia and Ariane were involved everywhere and demonstrated their talent in preparing traditional local dishes, among other things.

In addition to the birthday child, Crown Princess Amalia received special attention on the day.
After all, the 18-year-old will one day be able to follow in her father's footsteps and celebrate her own Queen's Day.
But her younger sisters were also a popular subject for photographers.
Princess Alexia had apparently been given "extra leave" from her boarding school in Wales to attend the big event.
Meanwhile, baby Ariane once again made it clear that she is also already adept at dealing with the press, always put on her most sympathetic smile and posed for selfies with fans.

By the way, the celebrations in Maastricht will continue until the evening.
For example, various artists will appear and create a great atmosphere.
