A woman turns around on the freeway - she becomes a wrong-way driver and crashes head-on into a Ford. Miraculously she survives the accident.
Piding/Munich – Terrible accident on the A8 motorway: An 87-year-old turned her car and suddenly became a wrong-way driver.
It happened as it had to: The old lady crashed head-on into an oncoming car.
Miraculously, no one was killed in the accident, but the woman who caused the accident suffered serious injuries, according to the police report.
According to the officials, the woman from the Berchtesgadener Land district drove around 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday (April 26, 2022) onto the motorway between Bad Reichenhall and the border crossing in the direction of Austria.
First she drove in the direction of Salzburg.
Then she did the inexplicable: with her Daihatsu she first stopped in a breakdown bay and then turned around.
As a wrong-way driver, she almost crashed directly into two oncoming cars, but they were able to dodge and were slightly brushed against.
The next car, a Ford Galaxy, was less fortunate.

The vehicle of an Austrian crashed head-on into the Daihatsu.
According to the police, the man is 38, according to the Bavarian Red Cross 37 years old.
The driver sustained moderate injuries and, like the woman, was taken to the Salzburg State Hospital.
The Piding volunteer fire brigade had to free the woman from her accident vehicle with technical equipment.
The roof was removed with the hydraulic rescue kit.
The freeway then remained closed for hours.
The public prosecutor's office in Traunstein was involved and ordered an accident analysis report.
There was material damage totaling around 35,000 euros.
