A confidante of Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly took care of his business in Switzerland.

Apparently she is not on the US sanctions list.

Cologny - The USA and the EU have issued far-reaching sanctions against Russia.

Among other things, against the two daughters of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

However, a woman said to be close to Putin has reportedly escaped sanctions so far.

Alina Kabaeva is supposedly Putin's lover and spent most of the escalating Ukraine conflict in Switzerland.

The

Wall Street Journal

reported .

According to the newspaper, the US made a "last-minute decision" not to put Kabaeva on the sanctions list.

Ukraine war: Kabaeva is said to manage parts of Putin's fortune

Alina Kabaeva is a gymnast and former Olympian.

According to the

Wall Street Journal

, she plays a role in managing and hiding Vladimir Putin's fortune.

For this reason she is still a candidate for the American sanctions list.

US officials allegedly suspected that sanctioning Kabaeva was too personal an attack on Putin and could have further escalated the war in Ukraine.

As the newspaper further reported, a package of sanctions had already been drawn up against Putin's confidante.

In a last-minute decision, the American national security agency then intervened.

The sanctions are said to be on hold at the moment.

Ukraine war: Navalny confidant asked for sanctions against Kabaeva

A confidant of the Russian opposition politician Alexander Navalny apparently asked for the former Olympian to be sanctioned several weeks ago.

The Wall Street Journal

reports that he too pointed out that Kabaeva was hiding Putin's assets

.

However, the confidante of Navalny was apparently unable to prove his statements.

Kabaeva, who allegedly spent a long time in Cologny, Switzerland during the war in Ukraine, could be one of the most influential women in Russia, according to American security experts, because of her closeness to Putin.

Kabaeva lived in Cologny near Geneva in a luxury villa surrounded by high walls.

The property is also said to have had a helipad, which Vladimir Putin's business partners allegedly used to come and go.

The Ukrainian parliament also called for sanctions against Kabaeva.

According to the

Wall Street Journal

, it wrote a letter to the government of Switzerland demanding that those close to Putin be expelled from the country and that all of Kabaeva's property be confiscated.

Switzerland did not comply with the demands because there was allegedly no evidence of Kabaeva's stay in the country.
