The Chinese Foreign Ministry reiterated that the "one-China" principle is the mainstay for peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.
Commenting on US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's recent remarks on Taiwan, ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a regular press conference, "We deplore and reject Secretary Blinken's statement," calling on the United States not to underestimate the strength, determination, determination and ability of 1.4 billion Chinese to defend the country. Sovereignty of the country, unity and territorial integrity.
Wang pointed out that the failure of the United States to abide by its commitments will push Taiwan towards dangerous directions and will cost Washington intolerable, noting in this context that successive US administrations have clearly declared since Beijing and Washington established diplomatic relations in 1979 that they will adhere to the one-China policy.
Wang said the Sino-U.S. Joint Statement on Establishing Diplomatic Relations and the August 17 Communiqué clearly indicate that "the United States recognized the government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legitimate government of China and recognized the Chinese position that there is only one China and Taiwan is part of China."
Wang criticized the US policy regarding the Taiwan issue, noting that despite Washington's declaration on several occasions that it does not support "Taiwan independence", it has not stopped selling arms to Taiwan and making official contacts with it.
On several occasions, China confirmed the readiness and readiness of its army to take all necessary means to resolutely confront any provocation that undermines the country's core interests and destabilizes the Taiwan Strait.
