Eintracht Frankfurt fans even flew to London from Nuremberg Airport for the Euro League game on Thursday.

And not without reason.

Nuremberg – For the fans of Frankfurt Eintracht, no distance is obviously too far.

"I left Frankfurt for Nuremberg at 4.30 a.m. this morning," said Eintracht fan Peter on Thursday morning shortly before the Ryanair plane departed from Albrecht Dürer Airport for the decisive top game in London.

"I was already desperately looking for flights in the stands in Barcelona," recalls the passionate Eintracht supporter, who of course does not travel to London for the decisive game without his black and white fan scarf.

Europa League semifinals in London: Airline ticket prices have risen around the game

Around Frankfurt there were simply no more cheap tickets to be had.

"Even in Cologne or Karlsruhe, I didn't get any more flights.

That's why I just went to Nuremberg to be able to be there against West Ham," says Peter, while in the background a group of Franconian Eintracht fans make their way to the gate.

In fact, the prices for flights to London for the important semi-final first leg of the Frankfurt team in the European Cup on Thursday evening in the English capital have recently increased noticeably.

The background is obviously the withdrawal of the Irish low-cost airline from the Frankfurt-Hahn airport in the Hunsrück, which was in turbulence.

This development is also confirmed by Christian Albrecht, the spokesman for Nuremberg's Albrecht Dürer Airport.

"The flight from Nuremberg to London on Thursday is fully booked." Therefore, the ticket prices have risen due to demand.

In some cases, 300 euros per flight were paid.

Europa League semifinals: Eintracht fan travels to London without a stadium ticket

In any case, Peter can save the money for entry to the game.

"Unfortunately, I didn't get a ticket for the stadium anymore.

But that's not so bad.

I'll just watch the match with other Eintracht fans in a London pub," says Peter, who doesn't want to follow the hoped-for victory from afar, but wants to be there up close.

"I'm looking forward to the game.

But now I have to go,” says Peter and disappears into the waiting Ryanair plane on the Nuremberg tarmac.

By the way, the likeable Eintracht fan wants to return to the Franconian metropolis of Nuremberg on Saturday with an away win under his belt.
