Fatal accident: truck driver dies on the A1

Fatal accident on the A1 near Hamburg.
The driver of a truck apparently overlooked the end of a traffic jam.
He crashes into another truck at full speed.
Hamburg/Seevetal – It was not until April 27, 2022 that a similarly serious accident occurred on the A261 shortly after the state border from Lower Saxony to Hamburg.
A driver died.
Just one day later, on Thursday, April 28, 2022, there was another serious rear-end collision on the A1 motorway near Seevetal.

At around 12:15 p.m., the driver of a truck noticed the end of the traffic jam in front of him, presumably too late.
The man drove into the rear of a stationary truck almost without braking and threw the truck into the central barrier.
The heavy impact initially trapped the truck driver in a driver's cab.

The truck crashes into the end of the traffic jam, seemingly without braking.

First responders who drove directly behind the truck immediately ran to the trapped truck driver.
You break open the driver's door and can free the driver from his cabin.
A short time later, rescuers from the Hamburg fire brigade arrive and take care of the man who is not seriously injured.

The rescuers fought for the life of the 51-year-old truck driver for more than an hour.
Despite an emergency doctor being flown in, the driver died at the scene of the accident in the middle of the A1.
A funeral home then removed the body.
Another truck driver suffered a shock and had to be treated at the scene.
The A1 motorway was completely closed to the south for the rescue and clean-up work until around 2:45 p.m.
The police are now investigating exactly how the accident happened.
