Driven by ever-increasing energy costs, the inflation rate in Rhineland-Palatinate climbed to a record 7.0 percent in April compared to the same month last year.
In addition to corona-related effects such as delivery bottlenecks, the reasons for this are also the uncertainties resulting from the Russian attack on Ukraine, the statisticians said on Thursday.
Bad Ems - Never before since the start of the time series in 1995 has the State Statistical Office recorded a value as high as in the month that is ending.
In March, the inflation rate was 6.6 percent.

Within a year, district heating and gas were 21.4 and 20.3 percent more expensive, respectively.
