Phantasialand designer Eric Daman, who created theme worlds such as Rookburgh and Mexico, has now died at the age of 58.

The amusement park mourns.

Brühl - Mourning in Phantasialand in Brühl: "We are deeply affected and shocked by the sudden death of Eric Daman, the designer and creative designer of the theme worlds in Phantasialand," said the amusement park on Facebook.

The Belgian artist died on Wednesday April 20 at the age of 58.

According to Phantasialand, Daman created the theme worlds of Klugheim, Mexico and Rookburgh in Phantasialand, among other things.

“With his great artistic spirit, Eric Daman has played a decisive role in shaping what Phantasialand is today with his designs over decades.

There are a total of six themed worlds and three themed hotels in Phantasialand.

The creative soul of the artist lives on in the theme worlds, for example in Klugheim or Rookburgh.

Among other things, he designed the following roller coasters and themed worlds:

  • Colorado Adventure Mine Coaster

  • River Quest White Water Rafting

  • Winja's Fear and Winja's Force roller coasters

  • Black Mamba Roller Coaster

  • interactive theme ride "Maus au Chocolat"

  • Top Spin “Talocan” 

  • "Chiapas" whitewater ride

  • Rookburgh themed world

  • Theme world "Klugheim"

  • Theme hotels “Hotel Matamba”, “Hotel Ling Bao” and “Hotel Charles Lindbergh”

There are a total of eight roller coasters in Phantasialand - the fastest is the multi-launch coaster "Taron" with a top speed of around 117 km/h.

Eric Daman also designed the Black Mamba roller coaster.

However, the roller coaster cannot be used until April 29, 2022, because a new attraction is currently being built in the “Deep in Africa” themed area.

Although she has been to Phantasialand so often, she noticed something new with every visit.
