None other than Bayern star Niklas Süle did the honors in the Indian restaurant Namaste.

But it wasn't the food alone that made the footballer come to Schongau.

Schongau

– Schongau is not generally known as the city where stars and starlets come and go.

So when a national soccer player like Niklas Süle shows up here, it's news worth reporting - especially since it immediately raises the crucial question: What on earth made the FC Bayern star make the long journey from the state capital to the provinces ?

One assumption could be that it must have been due to the culinary offer.

The Namaste restaurant, which is somewhat hidden on Oskar-von-Miller-Straße in a residential area, was Süle's starting point.

Guests have been enjoying authentic Indian dishes here for 13 years.

In the meantime, the sons of Susanne and Mujahid Aziz have joined the family business.

Murtaza Aziz runs the Schongauer Namaste with his mother, his two brothers Saleem and Salman Bals the restaurants of the same name in Murnau and Marktoberdorf.

Niklas Süle and the Namaste in Schongau: A personal story

Of course: It wasn't just the food that made the national soccer player move to Schongau recently.

Rather, there was a personal story behind the celebrity visit, and it began – quite clichéd – at the hairdresser's in Munich.

It was there that Murtaza Aziz and Niklas Süle met in person for the first time.

Aziz, who grew up in the state capital, knew the hairdresser from childhood.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.

The 33-year-old remembers that his friend, who also cuts the hair of other Bayern stars, introduced each other.

"We quickly got on well." Another meeting followed in a Munich restaurant, where the footballer and Schongauer exchanged numbers.

At some point, Murtaza Aziz finally asked Süle if he would like to come by for dinner.

"I told him we have healthy things, everything without glutamate and from the region.

The quality of the food was always very important to my father.”

FC star Süle visits the restaurant in Schongau - friendly relationship

And the FC Bayern star didn't take long to ask.

Accompanied by his partner and his parents, Süle appeared in Murnau's Namaste - "as a normal guest, without special treatment," says Aziz.

Apparently, the prominent visitor had not been promised too much.

Süle liked it so much that he said he wanted to try the family's other restaurants, says the 33-year-old.

And the international kept his word.

Last summer, the Bayern star was the guest of honor at the opening of the new restaurant in Marktoberdorf, and now it was Schongau's turn.

Aziz, who is now on friendly terms with Süle, recalls that the restaurant was packed on that day.

But no one recognized or paid attention to who was sitting at the next table.

Niklas Süle from FC Bayern Munich: A very familiar person

"Even in Schongau, no one expects someone like Niklas Süle to suddenly go out to eat," says the 33-year-old with a laugh.

Especially when someone like him doesn't make a fuss about his personality.

Süle is a down-to-earth guy without airs and graces, says Aziz.

"He has remained normal, drives a normal car and is a very familiar person."

According to Aziz, Süle's visit to Schongau should not remain a flash in the pan, even if it will soon no longer be so easy with a spontaneous trip to Lechstadt.

As is well known, the national player will move from Munich to Dortmund in the summer.

But before that, the next meeting is already planned – possibly with one or the other Bayern star, Aziz reveals.

Former FC Bayern star Jérôme Boateng lived in the celebrity town of Grünwald for a few years.

Now the Olympique Lyon player's luxury villa is for sale.

At a proud price.
