Update from April 27, 3:06 p.m .:

After the nationwide corona measures were abolished at the turn of the month, the mask requirement and the 3G rule also ceased to apply in Bavaria’s state parliament.

“So far we have been more careful to ensure the work of Parliament.

But of course the same applies to us in Parliament as almost everywhere in the Free State, so that wearing the mask is now voluntary, ”said Ilse Aigner (CSU), President of the State Parliament on Wednesday in Munich.

Since this week, Parliament has been sitting again in full force and without separating windows.

Anyone who gets Corona usually has a rather harmless course thanks to vaccinations and the number of infections would also decrease, said Aigner.

“This also enables us to return to normality in the Bavarian state parliament.

Of course, everyone is free to wear a mask voluntarily.

And the hygiene measures are also highly recommended.”

Masks have been compulsory in the state parliament since June 15, 2020.

Initially, only wearing a medical mask was mandatory, but as the pandemic progressed, this became a requirement for FFP2 masks.

Visitor groups will soon be able to come back to the Bavarian Parliament in full force.

Over 20,000 new infections: Corona incidence in Bavaria is increasing

Update from April 27, 8:19 a.m .:

The corona incidence in Bavaria has increased again.

On Wednesday it was 868.1 - 18.9 more than the previous day.

A week ago it was almost 100 lower, but this value was probably distorted by the Easter holidays.

The corona numbers of the last 24 hours

  • 22,269 new corona cases

  • 61 new deaths related to Corona

However, the figures should be interpreted with caution.

Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - due to overworked health authorities and because not all infected people have a PCR test done.

Only these count in the statistics.

Corona in Bavaria: Tests in schools are being phased out

Update from April 26, 12:40 p.m .

: The regular corona tests in schools and the mandatory tests in kindergartens and daycare centers in Bavaria will expire at the end of this week.

The cabinet formally decided on Tuesday to remove the relevant provisions from the Corona Ordinance.

This was announced by Head of the State Chancellery Florian Herrmann after the cabinet meeting - this time again in person - in Munich.

This means that students have to take corona self-tests for the last time this week.

The regular PCR tests at primary schools and in the fifth and sixth grades at secondary schools are also no longer necessary.

In the event of an infection in a class, there are also no more tests in the schools.

At the same time, all testing obligations in the area of childcare are no longer applicable.

Free corona self-tests, for example via vouchers for pharmacies, will then also no longer be offered.

"From our point of view, the acute threat posed by the virus has currently been averted," said Herrmann.

At the moment everything points to relaxation.

Over 13,000 new infections: Corona incidence in Bavaria is increasing

Update from April 26, 9:24 a.m .:

The seven-day incidence in Bavaria has increased compared to the previous day.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value as 849.2.

The previous day the value was 802.4, a week ago it was 862.5.

However, it is unclear whether the data from the health authorities show the actual infection situation.

Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases that are not recorded by the RKI - due to overworked health authorities and because not all infected people have a PCR test done.

Only these count in the statistics.

The health authorities in Bavaria reported 13,713 new corona infections and 48 deaths in connection with an infection with Sars-CoV-2 to the RKI within one day.

This emerges from figures that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 7:20 a.m.

A week ago there were 7480 registered infections and 5 deaths.

Corona in Bavaria: summer semester begins with presence

Update from April 25, 1:45 p.m .:

At the start of the summer semester, Bavaria’s Science Minister Markus Blume (CSU) called on all students to wear masks in the university rooms.

"Now it's really starting again - as of today, the universities in Bavaria are filling with life.

I'm looking forward to a normal summer semester, but also one with new challenges," said the politician on Monday in Munich.

The students could finally use all lecture halls, seminar rooms and libraries again.

Despite this regained normality, the minister continued to urge caution: “The corona pandemic is not over yet.

The following still applies: safety first!

Wearing the mask indoors is an effective measure to protect the health of everyone on campus.

We should not do without this protection.”

After the Corona years, the Bavarian universities are again offering numerous face-to-face courses in the summer semester and want to create as much normality as possible.

“Our universities have set up comprehensive and high-quality digital courses in recent years.

They have shown that studying digitally creates flexibility and opens up new didactic dimensions," said Blume. Nevertheless, it is clear that direct exchange on site is an irreplaceable part of studies, research and teaching.

It is now important to integrate the achievements of digital teaching in a long-term and intelligent manner and to balance them with on-site teaching.

But caution is also advised: many of them are likely to return to the classrooms with many contacts after two weeks.

Corona rules in schools are expiring

The corona test obligation will continue to apply for the next five days.

The state government wants to counter the feared higher number of infections after the holidays.

Because: On May 1st, the regulations for the general, unrelated tests for students and the 3G regulation for teachers and other employees will then expire.

The Abitur exams for around 35,000 Bavarian schoolchildren also begin next Wednesday.

According to the Ministry of Education, there are no longer measures due to the corona pandemic this year.

No compulsory testing is planned, and the high school graduates can decide for themselves whether they want to wear mouth and nose protection.
