A nasty surprise for Haar: The renovation of the community center and inn is not only delayed, it is also significantly more expensive than expected.

Haar – The refurbishment of the ensemble of Gasthof zur Post and community center is a kind of open-heart surgery in Haar;

with serious complications, because the project is not only delayed, it will cost two million euros more than originally planned.

The estimated costs, including the security surcharge, are now around 8 million euros.

Since the expansion of the Jagdfeldschule is also 1.2 million euros more expensive than calculated, things are slowly getting tight;

especially since the largest trade taxpayer, the pharmaceutical company MSD, has moved to Berg am Laim.

The municipal council decided that the two million euros in additional costs should be financed from reserves if possible, and additional loans should be avoided.

The municipality currently still has 38.5 million euros on the high edge, but this cushion is getting thinner, according to financial planning there are only just under four million euros left in 2025.

Reopening probably not until April 2023

What matters most to the citizens is that nothing seems to be moving forward.

The Gasthof zur Post and its beautiful beer garden have been closed since October 1st, 2021.

Work on the first construction phase was originally supposed to start in February this year - now it's June.

If all goes well, the new host, which the community has yet to find, can open in April 2023.

Then the hall in the community center should be usable again - but the schedule for the actual renovation of the community center, the second construction phase, is still open.

That is why Mayor Andreas Bukowski (CSU) and CSU faction leader Dietrich Keymer warned against further delays.

Mike Seckinger (Greens) had suggested checking whether the community could not convert to an ecological variant when renewing the heating system in the Gasthof zur Post.

The old boilers only run in emergency mode, can no longer be repaired and could break down at any time, as was found during the inventory.

An unforeseen cost item that is reflected in the two million, as well as the necessary renewal of the beer garden kitchen or the gastro cooling technology.

All of the building services – electrical, plumbing and ventilation – have to be replaced anyway, which was already included in the original cost estimate.

"We now have the house empty and we have to act," Keymer appealed to the council members.

You stand by the citizens in the word, said Mayor Bukowski.

"We are sitting here in the heart of the community, and the Gasthof zur Post is important for everyone." Ultimately, everyone agreed to the changed planning and cost estimate.

Except for Ton van Lier (Greens).

He said in the debate: "I'm having a hard time with these additional two million euros."
