The salmonella storm in chocolate began on Monday, with the Strauss company announcing a concern about the presence of the bacterium in chocolate products.
The company recalled a large variety of its various chocolate products and the move created a public and media storm, alongside harsh criticism taken against the company for handling its management and conducting customer service during the event.
Later this week the company announced that the bacterium was detected not only in the raw materials but also in the company’s finished products.
Yesterday, Strauss announced that it is expanding its recall, and from now on, all of the company's confectionery products in the Galilee landscape are included in the list.
It was further decided that the company would return the plant to operation only after the defects were repaired.
Following the announcement, trading in the company's stock was suspended for half an hour as is customary in such cases.
At the same time, tests revealed that salmonella was also found in marketed products.
