An auto glass company in Haicheng Street, Xiwan River, was stolen by thieves on Tuesday (26th) afternoon by a parrot kept in the store, along with the iron cage. The store found out and called the police after the incident.
After investigation, officers from the Eastern District Police District arrested a 38-year-old man surnamed Wang Local in Chai Wan District today (28th) afternoon. He was suspected of theft and is being detained for investigation.
As for the stolen parrot "Nannan", it was also recovered by the police in Mong Kok district. It has no surface scars and will be returned to its owner.
The location of the incident was No. 5, Hoi Cheng Street. The store's CCTV showed that at about 1 pm on Tuesday, a man wearing a green short-sleeved shirt and dark shorts walked from Sai Wan Ho Street to Hoi Cheng Street and went to the store, and then He stole the parrot together with the cage. After the thief succeeded, he turned around and left and fled in the direction of Xiwanhe Street. The entire crime took less than 8 seconds.
The stolen parrot is named "Nannan" and is nearly 8 years old.
It is known that the store has always put it in the store to let it move around freely. If the staff needs to go out or eat, they will put it back in the cage, but they will not close the door, and only rely on the neighbors to guard each other.
When the incident happened that day, the clerk was out for dinner, and there was no one in the store. Unexpectedly, the thief came in.
At about 3 pm, when the owner returned to the shop after dinner, he found that the "NanNan" and the iron cage were missing, so he checked the CCTV, which revealed the case and called the police.
The case was classified as theft and was handed over to the Eastern District Criminal Investigation Team to follow up.
