Can we travel more light-heartedly this summer than the last two years?
Kerstin Heinen from the German Travel Association gives answers in the Ippen.Media exclusive interview.
Many people are already looking forward to their summer vacation and hope for carefree travel.
But what do we have to consider when planning this year?
"The corona pandemic may seem over, but it's not really there yet," says Kerstin Heinen, press spokeswoman for the German Travel Association.
She advises everyone to get advice from a travel agency:
"It's best to book a package tour with a flexible tariff that I can cancel at short notice before the start of the trip, if I want to, for whatever reason, or I can want to decide on another holiday destination.”
Summer vacation 2022: where are German vacationers headed?
Although Germany is still the most popular travel destination for many Germans, after two years of the corona pandemic, holidaymakers are moving abroad again this summer: "The Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, i.e. Spain, are particularly popular," says Kerstin Heinen.
Turkey is also in demand this year, especially among families with children, because the country offers very good value for money and many all-inclusive offers.

According to Heinen, bookings for long-distance routes for this summer are also increasing again:
"The USA are also part of it, at the moment we're still going to the Dominican Republic and the Maldives, so there's a lot of sun, sand and sea here too."
Book a summer holiday - strike now or wait?
Kerstin Heinen has a clear answer to the question of whether it is better to book now or to wait: "I would recommend booking now, making sure that the tariff is flexible in case something else comes up or I myself change my mind that I can still change something about it."
Which and whether there will be corona measures during the summer vacation is still difficult to say at this point in time, says Heinen.
Just like in Germany, things are also being relaxed in the holiday areas at the moment, so there are hardly any restrictions for travelers
: “But of course you have to stay up to date, you have to be informed, especially when it comes to entering a destination area, but also that Return to Germany."
