The Robert Koch Institute reports several values that drop significantly.

After the nationwide incidence had recently risen sharply, there are now signs of a slight relaxation.

Berlin – The corona pandemic is still causing numerous infected people and high incidences in many places, but after a sharp increase after Easter, the values are now falling significantly again.

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, the Robert Koch Institute reported not only a sharp fall in the nationwide incidence, but also the number of infections falling rapidly in a weekly comparison.

Corona incidence drops drastically: RKI reports current figures - two other values are also falling

On Thursday morning, the RKI gave the nationwide seven-day incidence, i.e. the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week, at 826.0.

For comparison: the day before the value was 887.6.

A week ago, however, the nationwide incidence was significantly lower at 720.6 (previous month: 1700.6).

And the number of new infections has also fallen sharply in a weekly comparison.

The health authorities in Germany reported 130,104 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.

A week ago there were 186,325 registered infections.

However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to compare the figures directly, as the values must take into account that individual countries do not report data every day of the week.

At the weekend, for example, Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Brandenburg and Saxony do not report or only report incompletely.

This in turn leads to late registrations on the following days.

A comparison of daily values is therefore becoming increasingly difficult.

Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - due to overworked health authorities and because not all infected people have a PCR test done.

Only these count in the statistics.

Corona in Germany: The number of deaths and the incidence of hospitalization are also falling

And the number of deaths is also lower than the week before.

According to the new information, 246 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were 324 deaths.

The number of corona-infected patients who came to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was 5.58 according to the RKI on Wednesday (Tuesday 6.12).

Here, too, there are days with incomplete reports.

The RKI does not indicate a hospitalization rate at the weekend.

The value also includes many people with a positive corona test who have another main illness.

Omicron variants are causing a fifth corona wave in South Africa, and a subtype is also rampant in the USA.
