Indonesian President Joko Widodo announced that he had invited his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to participate in the G20 summit to be held on the island of Bali in November.
Widodo said during a press conference today that Putin expressed to him during a phone call between them his gratitude for this invitation and his intention to attend the summit.
Widodo indicated that he also invited Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to the summit.
The Kremlin announced in a statement today that Putin and Widodo discussed, during a phone call, the activities of the Group of Twenty and the latest developments in Ukraine, noting that Putin briefed Widodo on Russian assessments of the situation in Ukraine.
In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that the Russian president had not yet decided on participating in the G20 summit, indicating that the phone call with the Indonesian president was largely positive.
