For a year, a court has been trying to clarify what happened to the missing Daniel M.

Was the body dumped in Lake Starnberg?

doubts are warranted.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen/Gießen

– For almost a year, a trial has been going on at the Gießen (Hesse) district court that has become famous under the name “Murder without a corpse”.

Because: The mortal remains of the victim Daniel M. were never found.

Did Robert S., one of the two accused, sink the dismembered body near St. Heinrich in Lake Starnberg, as he claimed to the police?

A search with divers was in any case unsuccessful.

There are now serious doubts as to whether this claim is true.

Murder victim sunk in Lake Starnberg?

Probably a failed kidnapping

The public prosecutor still assumes that the IT specialist Robert S., who is said to have lived in Geretsried for a while, and the teacher Olaf C. wanted to kidnap their mutual friend Daniel M. in order to extort money.

But something went wrong.

One thing is clear: Daniel M. was shot in Robert S.'s car, the body dismembered and disposed of somewhere.

Who was responsible for what could not be clarified in the tough taking of evidence.

The two accused accused each other.

Only Olaf C. made statements in court. His former friend remained silent.

Instead, he confides in fellow prisoners, who are then heard as witnesses, usually with manageable gains in knowledge.

He also writes letters that, according to the Gießener Allgemeine Zeitung, range “between gallows humor and slurred language”.

They are addressed to the mother, to the judge, and also to the local press.

In it he not only protests his innocence, but also rails against the co-defendant and even the murder victim.

Mysterious murder case: Accused makes fun of the police

There are now doubts that Daniel M. was sunk in Lake Starnberg.

The long journey south does not fit into the processes that the court has reconstructed.

The Sachsensee near the Hungen crime scene is more likely.

But here, too, the police dived unsuccessfully.

Incidentally, Robert S. made fun of his fellow inmates for the fact that so much effort had been put into it, especially on Lake Starnberg.

There he was flown in by helicopter to give clues.

A verdict is expected in May.
