For two months there was no service at the Jexhof farm museum near Schöngeising.

Food and drinks are now being served again.

Schöngeising - The highlight: The visitors should be able to taste the world of a farm of bygone days.

When Andreas Stipp opened up for the first time on March 1st, the weather promptly turned nice.

"There was a lot going on right away," says the career changer, who studied art history, managed his parents' construction company for many years and ran his own lighting company.

“I like to change my perspective on life,” says Stipp.

Jexhof: Wirt member of the association

The people of Wörthsee have known the Jexhof for a long time.

He was a member of the association, sometimes helped out with the previous innkeepers on vacation - and explored the idyllic surroundings on countless walks with his dog.

When the gastronomy became vacant at the end of last year, the outgoing couple and the museum management quickly thought of Stipp as a successor.

He then applied with a concept to the district office, which, as the operator of the museum, leases the restaurant.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)

"Simple, honest dishes made from regional and organic products" are the central element of Stipp's gastronomic concept.

He understands "honest dishes" as dishes based on old recipes, which you can well imagine being eaten on the Jexhof in the past when it was still a real farm.

Lentil stew, barley soup, special meat dishes such as roast pork or “Böfflamott” (that’s exactly what the menu should say) are on offer.

Something new has also appeared in the snack range – the “Jexburger”, a roll with meatballs, coleslaw, tomato and other toppings.

Jexhof: Coffee and cake very popular

However, Stipp found that many visitors are primarily interested in coffee and cake – and so they looked for good suppliers.

Among them is a regional bakery, famous for its bee stings, and the former operator of the monastery café in St. Ottilien.

"It's important to me to create a nice atmosphere that suits this historic place," says the landlord.

A look at the parlor and beer garden at the Jexhof makes it clear what he means.

Small decorative elements such as flower pots, crocheted doilies and brass candlesticks underline the rustic atmosphere.

On busy days, Stipp wants to set up a second counter for cold drinks outside in order to equalize the rush at the "Nadelör" counter in the entrance area.

He would welcome the conversion plans of the district office, which would like to outsource the gastronomy to the old Traktorstadl - if only because the currently very cramped kitchen conditions would improve.
