Russia today imposed restrictions and entry bans on individuals in Norway, Iceland and the autonomous regions of Greenland and the Faroe Islands of Denmark in retaliation for their accession to Western sanctions against Moscow.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today: These countries and the aforementioned autonomous regions joined the sanctions imposed by the European Union on Moscow and adopted restrictions against a number of Russian officials.
The statement added: We have adopted retaliatory measures against nine representatives of Iceland, 16 representatives of Norway, three representatives of Greenland and three representatives of the Faroe Islands.
The ministry explained that the decision bans these people from entering the Russian territory, who are a number of parliamentarians, members of government, representatives from business, academia, the media, and some social figures who actively promote anti-Russian rhetoric.
