The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office today (Friday) filed five indictments in the city Magistrate's Court against eight defendants, some of them minors, for participating in riots, throwing stones and objects at security forces and civilians during the month of Ramadan.

Indictments were filed against Lith Ladawiya and Muhammad Oki (19) and three minors aged 16-17, residents of Jerusalem, after throwing stones and objects at police in the Old City area of ​​Jerusalem.

According to the indictments, a mass riot broke out in the Bab Wireless neighborhood about two weeks ago.

As part of the riot, dozens of masked rioters, including the accused, stood on the roofs of buildings and attacked policemen standing in the street below them.

The attacks were carried out by firing fireworks and throwing massive stones at the policemen.

At one point, when another police force arrived at the scene, the defendants entered a nearby house and took off their veils and shirts in order to disrupt identifications.

The indictments attribute to the defendants committing offenses of rioting, attempting to assault police officers in aggravated circumstances, act of recklessness and negligence, interfering with a police officer and obstruction of justice.
